Routine preventive care starts with your history and current concerns. Tell the team about bleeding gums, sensitivity, pain, dry mouth, or changes in your medications. Bring recent dental records if available and ask whether existing X-rays can be used.

A routine cleaning and periodontal treatment serve different needs. If the examination shows gum disease, your dentist may recommend treatment below the gumline and ongoing periodontal maintenance. A promotional routine-cleaning price does not mean that every patient needs that type of cleaning.
