Dental Bonding in Raleigh & Wake Forest, NC

A fast, affordable fix for chips, gaps, and small flaws.

Dental bonding uses a tooth-colored resin to repair chips, close small gaps, and reshape teeth — often in a single visit, with no anesthesia needed. It’s one of the quickest, most affordable ways to improve a smile, available at all four Village Dental offices.

A natural smile
The basics

What is dental bonding?

Bonding applies a putty-like tooth-colored resin to the tooth, which we shape, harden with a light, and polish to blend with your natural enamel.

It’s ideal for minor cosmetic fixes — a chipped edge, a small gap, a discolored spot — and can usually be done in one visit.

Because little to no enamel is removed, bonding is one of the most conservative cosmetic options available.

Choosing a treatment

When bonding is a good fit

A small chip or gap may be suitable for bonding, but the cause matters. Your dentist checks the tooth and bite before recommending a cosmetic repair. A large fracture, decay, or pain may call for a different treatment instead of simply covering the area.

Bonding can often preserve more tooth structure than porcelain veneers. Porcelain may resist staining better, while resin may be easier to repair in selected cases. Compare preparation, appearance, expected maintenance, and overall cost with your dentist.

Many small repairs fit into one treatment visit. Multiple teeth, shade planning, or care needed beforehand can change the schedule. If you are also considering whitening, discuss treatment order before choosing the resin shade.

After treatment

Protecting your bonded teeth

Keep up with brushing, cleaning between teeth, and recommended checkups. Avoid chewing pens, ice, or other hard objects and using teeth to open packages. Tell your dentist if you clench or grind so the plan accounts for those forces.

If an edge chips, feels sharp, or changes how your teeth meet, arrange an assessment. Ask whether the repair can be polished or repaired and what that would cost. Do not assume every change means the whole restoration must be replaced.

For the initial estimate, ask how the number of teeth, size of each repair, and any underlying treatment affect the total. Read Cleveland Clinic’s bonding overview for additional general information.

Frequently asked

How long does dental bonding last?
Bonding can last several years, depending on your bite, habits, and the area treated. It can stain or chip, and your dentist can assess whether polishing, repair, or replacement is appropriate.
Bonding or veneers — which is better?
Bonding is faster and more affordable but less durable; veneers cost more but last longer and resist stains. We’ll help you choose based on your goals.
Does bonding stain?
It can stain over time, especially with coffee, tea, and red wine. Good habits keep it looking fresh.
Does bonding hurt?
Usually not — most bonding needs no anesthesia because little or no enamel is removed.
How do I care for bonded teeth?
Brush and floss as usual, avoid biting hard objects, and keep up with checkups so we can polish or touch up as needed.
Which offices offer bonding?
All four Village Dental offices offer dental bonding.
