Smile Design & Shade Match
At the consult we use intraoral cameras to walk through what you'd change about your smile, talk through length, shape, and shade, and lock in a plan. You see the case on the screen before we ever pick up an instrument.
Cover chips, gaps, deep stains, and worn edges with custom-shaded porcelain veneers — finished in two visits. Each veneer at Village Dental — Wake Forest is hand-shaded to match the way your real teeth catch the light.
Veneers are wafer-thin layers of porcelain — about the thickness of a fingernail — that we bond to the front surface of your teeth to change their shape, color, length, or alignment. The whole transformation usually takes two appointments spaced a couple of weeks apart. At the first visit we shape the teeth, take a digital scan, and place a set of temporaries. At the second, the lab-made porcelain comes back and we cement it in place. You walk out with a finished smile.
People in Wake Forest come in for veneers for a handful of recurring reasons — a wedding, a 25-year reunion, a big work milestone, or simply being tired of cropping themselves out of family photos. Patients drive in from Wakefield, Heritage, Rolesville, and North Raleigh because veneers fix several things at once: chips, worn edges, small gaps, slightly twisted teeth, and stains that whitening can't reach. For a single chipped front tooth, bonding is usually the better call — but for a full smile makeover, veneers hold up best long-term.
Veneers aren't right for every situation. If a tooth is heavily decayed, broken below the gumline, or has had a root canal, a crown is a stronger option. If you grind your teeth at night, we'll talk about pairing your veneers with a custom bite guard to keep them from chipping. We'll show you the trade-offs honestly before any work starts — the goal is for the veneers to still look great in ten years, not just on the day they go in.
Two main appointments about two weeks apart — most cases finish within a month, including the consult.
At the consult we use intraoral cameras to walk through what you'd change about your smile, talk through length, shape, and shade, and lock in a plan. You see the case on the screen before we ever pick up an instrument.
A thin layer of front-surface enamel is shaped to make room for the porcelain — under local anesthesia. We take a digital scan instead of impression goop, send it to the lab, and place comfortable temporaries you can eat and smile in.
At your second visit the porcelain comes back custom-shaded. We try each veneer in, check fit, color, and bite, then permanently bond them with a curing light. A final polish blends the edges and you walk out with the finished smile.
Our veneers are made from lithium disilicate or layered feldspathic porcelain — both glass-based ceramics that mimic the way natural enamel handles light. Real teeth are slightly translucent at the edge and a bit more opaque toward the gum, and a good ceramist builds that gradient into every veneer. The result is the difference between a smile that looks polished and natural and a smile that looks like a row of identical tiles.
Before any prep happens, we use intraoral cameras and digital scans to design the case on a screen and let you see exactly what we're seeing — every chip, stain, asymmetry, and worn edge. If a simpler fix would handle it, we'll tell you. Whitening often goes first so the veneer color gets matched to your brightest possible natural shade. For more conservative cases, composite bonding may be enough, and we'll lay out both options on the screen so you can see the difference.
A few practical notes for Wake Forest patients. We give you a written estimate before any work starts — no surprises at checkout. We're a judgment-free office, so if you've been putting off a fix because of how a tooth got chipped or how long it's been since your last visit, that's fine, that's why we're here. And we keep same-day windows reserved daily for chips and emergency repairs, which matters most if a veneer ever pops loose between checkups. The office is right on the Capital Blvd / US-1 corridor, a short drive for anyone in Wake Forest, Wakefield Plantation, or Heritage.
Veneer pricing depends on a few things — how many teeth you're treating, whether it's a single match or a full smile makeover, and which porcelain material the case calls for. A single veneer to match a chipped front tooth is the simplest case; six to ten veneers for a complete smile design is the most involved. Whitening, bite guards, or replacing an old crown alongside the veneers can also factor in. We'll give you a written estimate before any work starts. Village Dental — Wake Forest is in-network with the major dental insurance providers below.
Please note: We do not accept Medicaid. If you're uninsured, ask about the Village Dental Membership Plan — it bundles your preventive visits and gives you a discount on additional treatment, including veneers and other cosmetic work.
New patients: Your first exam and X-rays are free. If a smile consult has been on your list, that's an easy place to start.
Right on the Capital Blvd / US-1 corridor — minutes from downtown Wake Forest and easy to reach from Wakefield, Heritage, and Rolesville. Veneer consults can usually be scheduled within a week.
It depends on how many teeth we're treating and which porcelain the case calls for. A single match-and-replace veneer is at the lower end; a full smile design with eight to ten teeth is at the upper end. Veneers are considered cosmetic, so most insurance plans don't cover them — but we give you a written estimate before any prep starts, and the Village Dental Membership Plan includes a discount on cosmetic work. Veneers are a planned two-visit procedure rather than a same-day case, but a consult can usually be scheduled within a week. Two main appointments spaced about two weeks apart. Visit one is the prep, digital scan, and temporaries — typically 90 minutes per arch. Visit two is the final bond once the porcelain is back from the lab — usually 60 to 90 minutes. A short consult comes first to plan the shade, shape, and number of teeth. Most Wake Forest patients are done within three to four weeks. Call (919) 373-3520 to schedule the consult.
Not for most patients. The prep step — where we shape a thin layer of front-surface enamel — is done under local anesthesia, the same numbing used for a routine filling. The bonding visit is mild enough that anesthesia usually isn't needed at all. Some teeth feel cold-sensitive for a few days while in temporaries, which fades once the final veneers are bonded. Call (919) 373-3520 with concerns.
Most dental plans treat veneers as a cosmetic procedure and don't cover them. Exceptions are when a veneer is replacing a broken filling or restoring damage from trauma — in those cases a portion may be covered. We're in-network with Delta Dental Premier, Cigna PPO, Blue Cross Blue Shield Grid, and United Concordia Elite, and verify benefits before treatment so you know your out-of-pocket cost up front. We do not accept Medicaid. Call (919) 373-3520.
For one small chip on a healthy tooth, bonding is almost always the better call — it's faster, cheaper, and reversible. Veneers shine when several teeth need work at once: closing gaps, lengthening worn edges, masking deep stains, and evening out the smile in one go. They're stronger and more stain-resistant than composite, and well-made veneers can last 15 to 20 years. Call (919) 373-3520 and we'll show you both options on camera.
With good care, well-made porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 20 years. Two things shorten that lifespan most often — clenching or grinding at night, and chewing hard objects like ice, fingernails, or pen caps. We almost always recommend a custom bite guard if you grind. The porcelain itself doesn't stain, but the cement edges can darken slightly with heavy coffee or red wine over many years. Call (919) 373-3520 if a veneer chips or feels loose.
You're likely a candidate if your gums are healthy, you don't have untreated decay or active gum disease, and the teeth being treated have enough enamel for a thin layer of porcelain to bond to. Heavy grinders may need a bite guard alongside their veneers. If a tooth has had a root canal, has a large cavity, or is broken below the gumline, a crown is usually a better fit. Call (919) 373-3520 to set up a consult.

Yes, single-veneer cases are common — usually one chipped or internally discolored front tooth. The trickiest part is matching the shade and translucency to the surrounding natural teeth, which is why we use multi-shade porcelain, intraoral photography, and a try-in step before the final bond. If matching one tooth proves difficult, we'll talk through whitening the rest first or doing a pair of veneers for a more even result. Call (919) 373-3520.
