About Dentures

Missing Teeth Across the Triangle? Dentures Rebuild the Whole Smile

Dentures replace teeth that are already gone, too damaged to keep, or about to come out. A full denture restores an entire arch — upper, lower, or both — while a partial clips around the natural teeth you still have and fills in the gaps. The aim is the same either way: walk out of any Village Dental office able to chew dinner, hold a conversation, and smile in a photo without thinking about which tooth is missing.

Across our four Raleigh-area offices the people who come in for dentures tend to rhyme. There's the longtime patient near Six Forks whose old denture has finally stopped fitting the way it used to. The adult off the Brier Creek and RTP side who has hidden a couple of gaps for years and wants a partial that looks natural up close. And the patient who already knows several teeth are failing and wants a plan that never leaves them a single day without front teeth. From Edwards Mill out to Capital Blvd in Wake Forest, we handle all three.

Dentures aren't always the best answer, and we'll say so. If you're only missing a tooth or two in a row, a dental bridge or a dental implant usually holds up better and skips the removable piece entirely. Dentures earn their place when too many teeth are missing for those to work — or when timeline and budget make a denture the smarter call. Your Denture Visits

What to Expect When You Get Dentures

Most traditional cases run about three to six weeks — usually four short visits, plus one or two quick adjustments after you take your new teeth home.

Consult & Records

We start with an exam, digital X-rays, and a straight conversation about what matters most to you — a natural look, easier chewing, or both. Then we capture detailed scans of your gums and any remaining teeth so the lab has an exact map to build from.

Wax Try-In

Before anything is finalized, you see a wax preview with the prosthetic teeth set in place. This is where we tune the shade, shape, and position until it looks like you. Nothing goes to final fabrication until you sign off on the look.

Deliver & Adjust

We seat the finished denture, balance the bite, and show you how to take it in and out. A few days later — and again a couple weeks on — we bring you back for short visits to ease any sore spots as your mouth settles in.

Materials & Fit

Dentures That Look Like You and Stay Put

A modern denture base is high-grade acrylic tinted to match healthy gum tissue, and the teeth are layered, multi-shade prosthetics — so we can pick a color and shape that suits your face and age instead of the uniform, too-white look older dentures were known for. For a partial, you can choose a traditional metal framework or a flexible, metal-free version that all but disappears against the gums. Which one fits depends on which teeth are missing and how much grip the partial needs.

None of it matters without fit, which is why we rely on digital scanning and panoramic imaging to capture the exact contours of your ridges and remaining teeth before records ever reach the lab. If your case starts with extractions or bone grafting, we sequence the timeline so an immediate denture is ready the day teeth come out — you never go without teeth in front. And for patients who want maximum stability, an implant-supported denture snaps onto two to four implants so it doesn't shift when you eat or laugh.

Two things hold true at every Village Dental office. We hand you a written estimate before treatment starts, so the number is settled before you commit. And we keep the door open without judgment — if it's been a long time since your last visit and you're self-conscious about what's going on in there, that's exactly the situation we see most. We also reserve same-day windows daily, so a cracked or broken denture doesn't mean waiting a week to be seen.

Cost & Coverage

How Much Do Dentures Cost in Raleigh?

What you pay depends on the type — a standard full upper or lower denture sits at the low end, partials with a metal or flexible framework fall in the middle, and implant-supported dentures run higher because they include the implants themselves. Premium tooth shades and a soft liner for sensitive ridges factor in too. We give every patient a written estimate before treatment begins, and most plans cover a meaningful portion of full and partial dentures. Village Dental is in-network with the major dental insurance providers below.

Please note: We do not accept Medicaid. If you're uninsured, ask about the Village Dental Membership Plan — it bundles your preventive visits and gives you a discount on additional treatment, including full dentures, partials, and other restorative care.

New patients: Your first exam and X-rays are free. If you've been putting off doing something about missing teeth, that's an easy place to start.

Dentures in Raleigh — Frequently Asked Questions

How much do dentures cost in Raleigh?

It depends on the type. A standard full upper or lower denture sits at the low end, partials with a metal or flexible framework fall in the middle, and implant-supported dentures cost more because they include the implants. Premium tooth shades and soft liners add to the total. We give you a written estimate before any work starts, and most plans cover a meaningful portion of full and partial dentures. We're in-network with Delta Dental Premier, Cigna PPO, BCBS Grid, and United Concordia Elite. Call (919) 205-4829 for a quote.

Which Village Dental location offers dentures?

All four of them. Village Dental makes full, partial, and implant-supported dentures at our Olde Raleigh, North Raleigh, Brier Creek, and Wake Forest offices. Pick whichever location is easiest for you and book there directly — each office runs the same digital workflow and works with the same labs. Call (919) 205-4829 or check all our locations to find the nearest one.

How long does it take to get dentures and how many visits?

A traditional full or partial denture usually takes about three to six weeks and four to five short visits — consultation and records, impressions, a wax try-in to confirm the look, delivery, and one or two adjustment visits. Immediate dentures placed the day of extraction are faster up front but need a reline a few months later as the gums heal. Implant-supported dentures take longer because the implants need time to fuse with the bone. Call (919) 205-4829 to map out a timeline.

Do dentures hurt?

The denture itself doesn't hurt. Impressions, scans, and try-ins are painless. If teeth have to come out first, that's done with local anesthesia and, if you want it, sedation, so the extraction visit stays comfortable. A new denture can feel tight or rub a sore spot for the first few days, which is normal and fixed quickly with a short adjustment. Call (919) 205-4829 if a denture is sore.

Will my insurance cover dentures at Village Dental?

Usually a meaningful portion. Most dental plans cover part of full and partial dentures, often around 50 percent up to your annual maximum. We're in-network with Delta Dental Premier, Cigna PPO, Blue Cross Blue Shield Grid, and United Concordia Elite, and we verify your benefits before treatment so you know your out-of-pocket cost up front. Cosmetic upgrades and implant-supported dentures are covered differently than basic dentures. We do not accept Medicaid. Call (919) 205-4829 with your insurance card handy.

Dentures or dental implants — which is right for me?

It depends on your bone, your budget, and how much you want them to feel like natural teeth. Traditional dentures are removable, faster to make, and the most affordable. Dental implants replace the root of each tooth and feel closest to real teeth, but cost more and take longer. The middle path is an implant-supported denture that snaps onto two to four implants — far steadier than a regular denture and less than a full set of implants. We'll walk you through all three at your consultation. Call (919) 205-4829.

How long do dentures last?

A well-made denture typically lasts five to ten years before it needs a reline or a remake, mostly because the jawbone slowly changes shape after teeth are lost. Taking them out at night, cleaning them daily with a soft brush and a non-abrasive cleaner, and keeping up with checkups all stretch their life. We check the fit at routine visits and catch sore spots early. Call (919) 205-4829 if a denture starts feeling loose.

Am I a candidate for full or partial dentures?

Most adults are a candidate for at least one type. If you're missing all the teeth on an arch, a full denture replaces the whole row. If you still have several healthy teeth, a partial clips around them to fill the gaps. The only way to know which fits is an exam and a panoramic X-ray, and a few teeth coming out first or some bone grafting for stability doesn't rule you out. Call (919) 205-4829 to schedule a consultation.

Is there a denture dentist near me in North Raleigh or Brier Creek?

Yes. Village Dental makes full, partial, and implant-supported dentures at our North Raleigh office on Six Forks Rd and our Brier Creek office off Brier Creek Pkwy, plus Olde Raleigh and Wake Forest. Patients from Six Forks, North Hills, Brier Creek, and the RTP side all have an office close by. Call (919) 205-4829 or schedule online to book at the location nearest you.

Can I get same-day dentures if I need teeth pulled first?

Often, yes. If you still have teeth that need to come out, an immediate denture can be planned ahead and placed the same day the teeth are extracted, so you never leave without teeth in front. It's relined a few months later once the gums and bone settle. We keep same-day windows open daily for denture repairs and emergencies too. Call (919) 205-4829 to plan an immediate denture.
