Permanent Tooth Replacement

Dental Implants in Raleigh, NC

A dental implant replaces a missing tooth root and all — a titanium post, an abutment, and a custom crown that looks and chews like the real thing. Village Dental places and restores implants at all four of our Raleigh-area offices.

Missing a Tooth? An Implant Replaces It from the Root Up

A gap in your smile is more than a cosmetic problem. The moment a tooth comes out, the jawbone underneath it starts to shrink, neighboring teeth begin to drift, and chewing on that side gets harder. A dental implant is the one replacement that addresses the root, not just the part you can see — a small titanium post is set into the jaw, the bone grows around it, and a custom crown finishes the tooth on top.

Patients come to Village Dental for implants from across the Triangle — Six Forks and North Hills, the Brier Creek and RTP corridor, Edwards Mill near PNC Arena, and up Capital Boulevard toward Wake Forest. Some are replacing a single tooth lost to a crack or a failed bridge; others are tired of a partial denture that never quite sits right. The common thread is wanting something that feels permanent and forgettable in the best way.

Implants also do something bridges and dentures can't: they preserve the bone that keeps your face and bite stable over the long run. If you've been told you don't have enough bone to start, that's often fixable with bone grafting or, for upper back teeth, sinus augmentation beforehand. How It Works

What to Expect from the Dental Implant Process

An implant happens in stages over a few months — the bone needs time to lock onto the post — but each appointment along the way is short and predictable.

Plan & Scan

We start with an exam and a 3D cone-beam scan that maps your bone, nerves, and sinuses in detail. That image tells us exactly where the post should go — and whether you'd benefit from a graft first.

Place the Post

The titanium post is set into the jaw under local anesthesia, often using a surgical guide built from your scan. Then the bone fuses to it over roughly three to six months — the step that makes an implant permanent.

Add the Crown

Once the post is solid, we attach the abutment and a custom crown made to match your other teeth in shape and shade. You leave with a tooth you can bite, floss, and forget about.

Why 3D-Guided Placement Makes the Difference

An implant is only as good as where it's placed. We plan every case from a 3D cone-beam scan rather than a flat X-ray, because the scan shows bone height, density, and the position of nerves and sinuses that a single image can't. That detail is what lets us put the post in the right spot, at the right angle, the first time — and it's what keeps the procedure efficient and comfortable.

From that scan we can build a surgical guide and design the final crown digitally, so the tooth that goes on top fits your bite instead of fighting it. If a tooth still needs to come out before the implant goes in, we handle the extraction and the plan together, and if anxiety is part of why you've put this off, ask about sedation options that make the visit easy to sit through.

Two things hold true at every Village Dental office. First, you get the price in writing before anything begins, so there are no surprises mid-treatment. Second, this is a judgment-free practice — it doesn't matter whether your last visit was six months or six years ago, and plenty of our implant patients arrived after avoiding the dentist for a while. We also keep same-day windows open daily, so an urgent consult often doesn't have to wait.

Cost & Coverage

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost in Raleigh?

What you pay for a dental implant depends on the case — a single implant with one crown sits at the low end, while multiple implants or a full-arch restoration runs higher, and any groundwork like a bone graft or sinus augmentation adds to it. Many plans now pay toward the crown or a needed extraction even when they won't cover the post itself. We give you a written estimate before any treatment starts and verify your benefits up front. Village Dental is in-network with the major dental insurance providers below.

Please note: We do not accept Medicaid. If you're uninsured, ask about the Village Dental Membership Plan — it bundles your preventive visits and gives you a discount on additional treatment, including implants and the restorative work that goes with them.

New patients: Your first exam and X-rays are free. If you've been weighing an implant, that's a low-pressure place to start the conversation.

Dental Implants in Raleigh — Frequently Asked Questions

How much do dental implants cost in Raleigh?

It depends on the case. A single implant — post, abutment, and crown — costs less than replacing several teeth or restoring a full arch, and the price changes if you also need a bone graft or sinus augmentation first. We give you a written estimate before any treatment starts, and many plans cover part of the crown or extraction. We're in-network with Delta Dental Premier, Cigna PPO, BCBS Grid, and United Concordia Elite. We do not accept Medicaid. Call (919) 205-4829 for an estimate.

Which Village Dental location places dental implants?

All four. Village Dental restores dental implants at our Olde Raleigh, North Raleigh, Brier Creek, and Wake Forest offices, so you can pick whichever is closest and plan the whole tooth — surgery through final crown — close to home or work. Call (919) 205-4829 or check all our locations to find the nearest one.

How long does the dental implant process take?

Usually three to six months from start to finish, because the jawbone needs time to fuse to the post. The placement appointment itself is short, then the implant heals for a few months before the abutment and custom crown go on. If a tooth has to come out or a bone graft is needed first, add some healing time to that. Call (919) 205-4829 to map out a timeline for your case.

Does getting a dental implant hurt?

Less than most people expect. The post is placed under local anesthesia, so you're numb during the procedure, and most patients say it feels easier than the tooth extraction that sometimes comes before it. Soreness for a day or two afterward is normal and usually handled with over-the-counter pain relief. If you're anxious, ask about sedation options. Call (919) 205-4829 to talk it through.

Will my insurance cover dental implants at Village Dental?

Often in part. Many dental plans now pay toward the crown, the extraction, or part of the implant, even when they didn't years ago. We're in-network with Delta Dental Premier, Cigna PPO, Blue Cross Blue Shield Grid, and United Concordia Elite, and we verify your benefits before treatment so you know your out-of-pocket cost up front. We do not accept Medicaid. Call (919) 205-4829 with your insurance card handy.

Dental implants vs. a bridge — which is better?

Each has its place. An implant replaces one tooth without touching the neighbors and protects the jawbone from shrinking, which a bridge does not do. A bridge is faster and may cost less up front, and it can be the better call when the teeth on either side already need crowns. We walk you through both so the choice fits your mouth and budget. Call (919) 205-4829 to compare them.

How long do dental implants last?

The implant post is built to last decades and often a lifetime, since titanium fuses permanently to the jawbone. The crown on top typically lasts ten to fifteen years before normal wear may call for a replacement. Good brushing, flossing, and regular cleanings are what keep an implant healthy long term. We check your implants at routine visits. Call (919) 205-4829 to schedule a checkup.

Am I a candidate for dental implants?

Most healthy adults with one or more missing teeth are. The main requirement is enough jawbone to anchor the post — and if you're short on bone, bone grafting or sinus augmentation can often build it back up first. A 3D scan at the consultation gives a clear answer. Call (919) 205-4829 to find out where you stand.

Is there an implant dentist near me in North Raleigh or Brier Creek?

Yes. Village Dental places and restores dental implants at our North Raleigh office on Six Forks Rd and our Brier Creek office off Brier Creek Pkwy, plus Olde Raleigh on Edwards Mill Rd and Wake Forest on Capital Blvd. Whichever side of the Triangle you're on, there's an office nearby. Call (919) 205-4829 to schedule at the location closest to you.

Can I be sedated for implant surgery?

Yes. Sedation dentistry is available for patients who feel nervous about implant surgery or who simply want to be more relaxed in the chair. Combined with the local anesthesia that numbs the area, it makes the appointment comfortable from start to finish. Tell the team ahead of time so it can be arranged. Call (919) 205-4829 to ask about sedation for your implant.
